About the Author
“Growing up B&B” is what Mark Phillips calls his childhood at Old Rittenhouse Inn in Bayfield, Wisconsin. All his life, Mark has gathered stories, experiences and recipes while developing a love for an Innkeeper’s life and the charming town he calls home. But there are other loves, too.
The Phillips family also has a long tradition of musical inclination and creativity. Mark earned a degree in Creative Writing from UW-Madison before going on to the Los Angeles Music Academy, where he honed his talents and played the guitar and trumpet in numerous bands. Ultimately Mark returned home to Wisconsin to join The Frisky Lizards and toured the Midwest opening for bands like Big Head Todd and the Monsters and ZZ Top.
Though Mark is now a fulltime innkeeper and community leader, he still enjoys music and you can find him performing in area venues with the bands Fido and the Love Dogs, Alpha City and The Liz Woodworth Trio. He and his wife, Wendy, have two children who are also “growing up B&B.”
